Higher Self

Most of you know I am not a fan of religion.  That is putting it mildly.   I’m going to be straight, this world would be a lot better place if religion were gone. How can I say that? Religion keeps you from knowing your Higher Self. Religion works because in your memory you have a feeling of wholeness. The fall of the gods and goddesses in all the myths is us. We have fallen from wholeness into this meaty body. Religion was created so we can’t figure out how powerful we actually are. With religion we think we are taken care of and someone else is in charge of our lives. Let me ask you something. When we raise our kids, do we try to get them to think for themselves? Do we want them to run to us every time they have a problem, like when they were five years old, or do we eventually want them to try to work it out for themselves? If there was a bearded man in the clouds, why the hell would he want us to run to him every time we had a problem? Why would he not want us to think for ourselves?! What kind of message are we giving our kids when we tell them to ask the heavenly daddy for help for every last problem?

Religion imposes immaturity. That is exactly what this world wants. People who can not think for themselves. I’m not saying that someone shouldn’t ask for help. I’m saying they shouldn’t ask for it from an imaginary, bearded man. Why is it when someone has visions or an older child has an imaginary friend they talk to, everyone wants to drug them or put them in a mental hospital, but when someone talks of seeing or talking to Krishna, Jesus, Muhammad, Yawah, Buddha or any other religious character they are blessed? Most grown ups never cease being children. They look to others to tell them what to do. They long to be taken care of and to be spared of the necessity of thought and effort. The natural progression from infancy to adulthood is from dependence to independence, from external support to self-support, from non-responsibility to self-responsibility. This is the process of becoming an individual or becoming whole. To the ancients a whole person was a wholly person. Religions have perverted this into holy, meaning dedicated or devoted to something outside yourself.

Psychologist say the process of becoming an individual can be blocked by an environment that obstructs our growth rather than supporting our growth. An environment with gross irrationality, unpredictability, violence and fear. All 4 of these are what make the cesspool of religion. Gross irrationality- How rational is it to think a bearded man is in the clouds controlling everyone and everything? A bearded man who needs praise constantly or he will get mad. Unpredictability- The bearded man will be back sometime in the future. We don’t know when, but when he does there will be hell to pay for most. If you fall on your knees and praise him enough, he might just let you live. Violence- all you have to do is read the Old Testament to see how violent religion is. The Old Testament god is jealous and proud of it. He is a blood thirsty, misogynist, racist, genocidal, homophobic bully. Fear – In all religions we have to strive to be perfect or we will not obtain what ever riches they are dangling out in front of us. If we can’t be perfect we will burn in hell or have to keep trying till we get it right. Because we are human we can’t be perfect and this keeps us in a constant state of fear. In religion growth is thwarted, intelligence is subverted, and our connection to our Higher Self is severed. We wait for some other sculptor to sculpt us instead of sculpting ourselves. We are being controlled.

What most people call thinking is actually opinions other people have planted in their head. If they go against what the television, family and friends say, they start to feel anxious. So they become passive. To conquer this and connect with the Higher Self is what the ancients meant about dying and being born again. Christianity perverted this and made it the bearded man’s son dying for our sins. How insane does a mind have to be to take the process of individuation and use it for controlling people and greed? The original meaning of this was a person grasping separateness, the ability to distinguish between self and not-self. When a person connects with their Higher Self they question the values and goals they have been following their entire life. They start separating from their past in order to open their future. They realize they need to start living for themselves and not someone else’s opinions. Their perception of themselves is shattered and a new expanded self emerges. This is the process of waking up, the process of becoming an individual. Society calls this the mid-life crisis and tells us to go buy something to make ourselves feel better. Instead of getting flung towards the unknown, we go by a new car, new television or get our hair done. We take the quick fix over taking an adventure. Problem is, that quick fix goes away and we go back to feeling lost.

The basic goal of magic is to assist a person to move towards connection with the Higher Self, by shifting authority and power from the outside world to ourself. The shifting of primary support from the external to the internal, from family, friends or anything in our outside environment to ourselves. We learn to rely on our own thoughts and efforts to fulfill our needs and goals. Religion teaches you to do what other people want you to do. To seek approval. When we do this, not only does the connection to the Higher Self get disconnected, but the best part of us dies. Our fire and enthusiasm for life goes out. We surrender ourselves to belong. This is why governments love religion. Not only did they create religion, but they know with religion in our lives we will surrender ourselves to any outside force. They even make laws for freedom of religion and tell us to have religious tolerance. So basically we have the freedom to be ignorant and if we want to be, other people have to put up with us. We put up with this because we value being liked by others above the judgement of our own minds.

Being in communication with your Higher Self does not mean go out and live like a hermit. Don’t go live in the woods by yourself. We are social beings and we learn from each other. We need other people to help us fulfill our goals. Self and other are mutually necessary for each other. Problem is, the people who know what religion has done to the minds of this world use the masses for control and their own personal greed. Being in communication with our Higher Self we understand we our ultimately in charge of our own lives, no one else is here to serve us. We are in charge of our own mind and no one else’s mind, but we need to work in cooperation with others to live in this world. Not using others for our own greed. They help you with your goals and you help them with their goals. We learn from others, but we do not grant them authority over our mind. Other people may learn from us, but we do not try to control them.

I found out personally that being awake and not connected to the Higher Self is miserable. Like most when I woke up, I couldn’t get my hands on enough information. I started with the conspiracy sites and books, watched Ancient Aliens, read other religious books, dove head first into psychology and looked into the self-help environment, I was still miserable. I couldn’t relax. It was like my head was full of demons and I was angry or depressed all the time. One day while reading Manly P Hall, he peaked my interest when he mentioned Mystery Schools and Magic. I looked into it and saw several places online teaching Mystery School, but I wanted a personal approach. To me the online schools were to disconnected and they cost as much as a college course or more. I couldn’t stop thinking about what I read from Hall’s book. Then my ‘luck’ changed one day.

I found a metaphysical store I had never seen. They had crystals, tarot, dragons, ancient books, incense, statues of all the pagan gods, crystal skulls, everything you could think of for a person who was in to that stuff. What peaked my interest was people were going to rooms in the back of this little old house. I asked the lady at the counter what they were doing. She said they were getting tarot readings and having classes on how to read the tarot. I asked her if they did Mystery Schools and she looked puzzled, but an old man came out of a back room and asked what type of Mystery School I was looking for. I said the first thing that came to mind “Egyptian”. He told me to look online. As I paid for my rose quartz, I remembered Hall called one the Atlantean Mystery School. I asked him, ”How about Atlantean Mystery School?” He looked at me with a smile and asked, “What do you know about Atlantis?” “I know it is where the human race began” I replied. This is how I met, lets just call him Tom, the person who would teach me Magic.

Tom wanted to see how ‘awake’ I actually was, so he told me to bring one thing with me to my first lesson that would represent my state of awareness. This way he would know where to start with me. I was so excited, but what the hell would I bring? A crystal doesn’t mean you are awake, neither does incense or a crystal skull. I kept thinking, “Why can’t he just give me some kind of test?” I finally decided I would bring a book written by Ralph Ellis, which was actually two books in one. This two books in one was called Cleopatra to Christ on one side and Scota Egyptian Queen of the Scots on the other. I walked in and handed the book to Tom. He intriguingly looked at both covers and flipped through both sides for a few minutes. When he looked up from the book, I know he could see the anxiousness and pain in my eyes. “Do you believe the things Mr. Ellis says in this book?”, he asked. “Yes, I don’t know how, but it feels correct.”, I answered. He kept questioning, “How long have you been awake to this degree?” I shook my head and said, “Maybe 2 or 3 years”. He replied, “the knowledge you speak of Atlantis and bringing me this book tells me you are hyper awake”. He went on and told me how people get up and walk out on him when he starts going against religious beliefs. He joked about how he was glad he made people pay up front. Then he got a concerned look on his face and asked if I was able to talk to anyone about my knowledge. I told him, “No, there is no one”. I will never for get what he said next “To be alone in the depths without your Higher Self for 2 or 3 years is a long time, most just end it”. I didn’t really understand what he was talking about until after he taught me Mystery School and Magic.

The Higher Self contains all wisdom. Magic will get you in touch with all that wisdom. But to get in touch with the Higher Self you have to be in harmony with what I refer to as nature. Star Wars calls it the force. Again, I don’t mean go out and live like Grizzly Adams. You have to start thinking with your subconscious mind, the feminine side of your mind. When you think with your conscious mind, it is a very small beam of light. You get in your own way. This is how most of the world thinks, using the conscious mind. We don’t see the world how it is, we see it how we are. When we only use our conscious mind, the world is very limited and ugly. When an eagle swoops down in a lake to catch a fish, do you think she thinks about it for a while? No, she just does it automatically.

I’m going to give away a big secret here and I’m going to get deep. I will try to make it as simple as possible. The Ancient Egyptians believed the heart was the mind and source of wisdom. Science says look how cute they were, we know we are smarter because the mind is the brain. The romantics chime in and say they were all about unconditional love. Love is the only way. We have it all wrong with the ancients yet again. What the ancient Egyptians were trying to tell us was for our mind to be like our heart. Do you have to think to make your heart beat? No, it automatically does it. Just like the eagle swooping down on the fish. When you first started to ride a bike, it was hard because you consciously thought about doing it. You kept doing it and doing it until boom it went into the subconscious and it was easy. If you haven’t ridden a bicycle in 50 years and you try it, you will still be able to ride it. This is using a very small part of your subconscious. Weighing the heart against the feather of knowledge was weighing to see if you are using the feminine side of the mind. Are you in touch with the Goddess?(see Goddess Maat) But this world has put so much garbage in our minds, that we can’t stand to be alone with ourselves. Don’t think that I am telling you to put your life or mind on auto pilot. I’m not saying that. I am saying magic will clean your mind out for you to use your subconscious to get a connection to your Higher Self. Not everything is under the control of our conscious mind and not all of our thoughts are our own. The exercise of rejection and accepting thoughts I show in Magic, detoxifies what has been put in our minds. We are able to be alone with ourselves. We can have a creative emptiness, subtleness and aloneness. We open the connection to our Higher Selves.

Let me put it another way. Have you ever watched a child when they thought they were alone? Dancing, singing, drawing and playing pretend(acting) without a care. Its beautiful isn’t it? Then you either walk out in to their line of sight or ask them to perform. They start to consciously freeze up and almost feel embarrassed. Their conscious mind gets in the way. Earlier they were just going on without a care and doing whatever came into the subconscious mind. Then they consciously thought about doing it, it switched from the heart(subconscious) mind to the ego mind. They get in their own way of performing. So the saying to be child like again, is actually telling you to move into your subconscious mind. But with our limited thinking with the conscious mind, we take it as a negative thing to act like a child again.

Andre Gide said, “The fear of finding oneself alone – that is what they suffer from – and so they don’t find themselves at all”. Solitary confinement has been used as a punishment since patriarchy was invented, so they know what it does to the mind. In the modern-day we are not restricted to extreme forms of isolation. Today people fear being alone for any extended period of time. When we are alone, the darker aspects of ourselves show themselves. Nietzsche wrote “It is what one takes into solitude that grows there, the beast within included”.  The beast within is usually religious garbage. When a person starts to wake up, they are repelled by the masses. Weather it be the person waking up not wanting to be around the masses anymore or the masses not wanting that person around anymore, the waking person is thrown into solitude. This is what Tom meant when he told me “To be alone in the depths without your Higher Self for 2 or 3 years is a long time, most just end it”. The garbage implanted in our minds from religion becomes a great curse. We have a huge problem today with suicides and I believe the culprit is religion. In the past, not many were waking up. Those who did were burned at the stake. Today people are waking up in massive numbers, but have nowhere to turn. This world is getting exactly what it asked for. Today they want to drug the people waking up. I know how this feels personally, my wife wanted to admit me when I woke up. If I hadn’t seen what my sister has gone through her entire life, I would have slept walked right into the psych ward. I know first hand what psychology does to people! People who are waking up are being destroyed by guilt and not being accepted for who they are. This is why Nietzsche thought most should be dissuaded from solitude. He wrote “Your bad love for yourselves makes solitude a prison for you”. We have become a race of people who thrive off dependence driven relationships. We become how we think others want us to be. We become what we think a fake god in the clouds wants us to be!!! I’m not saying someone who really needs mental help should not get it. I’m saying if you are waking up and feel there is no where else to go, there are other people who are awake. It may seem like you are alone, but you are not.

It is only by voluntarily seeking out magic and confronting the darkness within that we can extract the benefits of being alone. Benefit of a connection to our Higher Self. A connection to our Higher Self means we don’t have preoccupations with appearance, we know we are beautiful. We don’t care if other people like us or not because we use truth, fact and logic to make our decisions. We don’t want to belong at the expense of our own sovereignty. Carl Jung called this connection The Achievement of Personality when he wrote:

“The achievement of personality means nothing less than the best possible development of all that lies in a particular, single being….Personality is an act of the greatest courage in the face of life, and means unconditional affirmation of all that constitutes the individual, the most successful adaptation to the universal conditions of human existence with the greatest possible freedom of personal decision”.

A connection with the Higher Self is achieved by a select few. Only those who are not concerned about conformity and are willing to live authentic lives will have a chance. Jung continues on about The Achievement of Personality:

“The saying “For many are called, but few are chosen” applies here as nowhere else; for the development of personality from its germinal state to full consciousness is at once a charism and a curse. Its first result is the conscious and unavoidable separation of the single being from the undifferentiated and unconscious herd. This means isolation and there is not more comforting word for it. Neither family, nor society , nor position can save him from it…The development of personality is a favor the must be paid dearly”.

That brings me to how Jung uses the symbol of the Lion. Jung having worked with Freud knew what the symbol of the Lion meant and he used it correctly:

“If he listens to the voice, then he is different and isolated, for he has decided to follow the law that confronts him from within. His “own” law, everyone will cry. He alone knows better- has to know better: it is the law, the vocation, as little his “own” as the lion that fells him, although it is undoubtedly this particular lion that kills, and not any other lion. Only in this sense can you speak of “his” vocation, “his” law.”

The ancients used the symbol of the Higher Self as the Lion that comes in and kills the inauthentic self. This is why in the story about Daniel being thrown into the lion’s den he is left unhurt. Daniel accepted the patriarch religion, so the Higher Self did not kill the inauthentic self. Daniel goes on to live an inauthentic life and all should fear the bearded man for this. I agree, you should fear how you will never become authentic if you believe this garbage.

There may be few who answer the call to the Higher Self, but the voice of the Higher Self exists in all. We have to quiet the mind to hear it. This is where Magic comes in(see Magic). I am holding a torch up in the middle of the collective darkness in hopes those waking will see it. In this mass society where they have squashed the individual it has made it seem hopeless for an individual. In times of desperation the ancients looked to the gods for help, but they understood the gods were aspects of themselves and the cosmos. The modern individual waking up thinks all the gods are dead because they have figured out the lie of religion. They must look to the force within in, the Higher Self, the God or Goddess within for answers that plague them. Through connection with our Higher Self we can sculpt our character and shape our destiny. We can create ourselves instead of being something we are not. As I have said before in previous posts, we are nature or the force in human form. Nature or this force is always wanting to create. Creating is what separates us from all other life forms. Do what ever it is you love to do, but start by creating your own life. As Richard Taylor wrote:
“Thus instead of supposing that a work of art must be something that all can behold- a poem, a painting, a book, a great building – consider making of your own life a work of art. You have yourself to begin with, a time of uncertain duration to work on it. You do not have to be what you are, and even if you may be quite content with who and what you are, it will not be hard for you to think of something much that you might become. It need not be something spectacular or even something that will attract any notice from others. What it will be is a kind of excellence that you project for yourself, and then attain – something you can then take a look at, with honest self-appraisal, and be proud of”.

Pursue your passions and invent your own life. Self doubt is normal, reject it. Just like riding a bicycle can be taken over by your subconscious, so can anything you want to do. Magic helps you reject all the garbage that was put into your subconscious and replace it with what you want in the subconscious. If you want to paint, paint.! I you want to write, write! If you want to sing or act. Do it! Do it and do it again and again and again. Sooner or later your subconscious will take control and it will be automatic. Right now we have everything we don’t like in our subconscious because we just don’t do what we love to do. Get absorbed and be wholly involved in what you love to do. Then when you are not doing it. Be aware of what pops into your mind. This is your Higher Self brining things to you that you love. For example, if you love painting, getting yourself to do it and getting immersed in it will help bring ideas of future paintings, when you are not actively involved in painting. A poem writer who loves poetry and gets immersed in their work will have more poems pop in their head. Just do what you love! Where do you think Nike got the phrase “Just Do It”? The greatest artists of the world have always said their work came from beyond or something higher. This is their Higher Self!!! Witches and Wizards have known this since the beginning of time.

Connecting with our Higher Selves not only changes the way we think, it changes our lives. You will not be the same person you were before. Your body will change simply because you love yourself enough to take care of your body. Just like your mind, you will not let garbage enter your body anymore. People around you will see the change and those who haven’t seen you in a while will wonder what happened. The people in your life will change. You will no longer let toxic thoughts and information into your mind, no more toxic food and drinks in your body or toxic people into your life. You will no longer look up to sports figures or Hollywood, you will be your own hero. You will see that “We are who we have been waiting for”. Divinity is within you, not outside of you. To get this journey started you have to do the hardest thing in the world for most…..cut the cord. That is right, turn the television off. Once you connect with the Higher Self, you will see what a carnival show television really is. If you decide not to turn the television off, you will simply fall back asleep.   Aristotle put it this way…

“To many, the most vulgar, would seem to conceive the good and happiness as pleasure, and hence they also like the life of gratification. Here they appear completely slavish, since the life they decide on is a life of grazing animals “.

  1. “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
    ― Epicurus,341–270 BC

Like this philosopher already knew there are actually three ways:
    1.God does not exist
2.God exists and makes a judgment in the hereafter
    3.God exists and is evil

In all 3 cases it is better that man free himself- from illusion or judgement or evil spirit!
    Keep it up!

  2. Magnificent post! I think the single most important quote in my life was by Karl Marx: “Religion is the opiate of the masses.” That gave me the courage to continue on my own pattern of thinking throughout my life. I so agree with what you say. TV, for instance. I tell people that if everyone canceled their cable TV for 2 months, there would be no more commercials and better programming. The cable stations are double-dipping (charging people a huge fee to watch commercials that are paid by sponsors to the cable tv stations). TV makes people discontented: why don’t I look like her/him? Why doesn’t my mate look like her/him? Why don’t I drive a car like that, etc. Anyway, I continue in my lone practitioner life style but it is a life-line to read that there are others who feel the same way. Thanks for posting!

  3. This post explains many things that have happened to me over the years – all true, though my mind may have interpreted it differently, the results are the same. It’s a long read but I think I’ll reblog this – who knows but someone from my blog my find it the right kind of information at the right time. With so much chaos on the planet, we certainly need to consider this higher aspect of ourselves. Thanks for posting.

  4. It was a commendable post. I wonder how can i test myself to the degree of awakening. I knw its really difficult to xplain myself when i feel nobody could understand what i actually mean. So i find it worthless in xplaining to people who can never even try to understand…….

    1. You don’t need to explain yourself. Just lead by example. You will attract people who will understand you. If you try to explain to someone who has never experienced awakening, they will not understand. Thanks for the great comment. 😊
